A very fine 17th century Italian voided red silk velvet with a pale gold satin ground patterned in a large scale central floral motif surrounded by foliated vines with large flower heads. This may have been woven in Genoa or Venice. Framed.

A pair of Italian panels (circa 1650) embroidered with laid and couched silk floss threads in a pattern of large scale floras bouquets and acanthus leaves.  At the top of panel A is a pair of owls, at the top of panel B is a pair of monkeys. Sold as a pair.

An 18th century French brocaded cover with flowers in pale blue and peach colors, bordered twice with contemporary tape.  This piece is especially unusual in that the ground is further brocaded with heavy couched metallic threads.

Circa 1725 English needlepoint panel in wool and silk depicting a charming grove of flowering trees with twisted trunks. Below the trees are naively drawn sheep and cows. In the background are typical stylized hills (hillyhocks) filled with flowers and birds. The needlework is in excellent condition, with vivid colors and some restoration to the brown areas. This panel may have been a part of a screen or bed hangings.

I04-3205

c. 1400-1500 Italian chasuble back with a central panel and top made of a rare design of Ottoman velvet, c. 1500. The side panels are Italian, c. 1400. All the velvet is cut red silk with metal thread, put together in the 19th century.  Provenance: Bacri Freres, Paris. They held an important collection of Medieval, Renaissance and Islamic textiles as dealers before WWII.
