I06-3249 c. 1550 Italian (Florence) voided red silk velvet in an ogival pomegranate design alternated with an ogival stylized floral bud design. The bands and floral bases are further patterned with voided diamond and dot patterns making a rich pattern. The background is a silver lame. This type of velvet was very costly and can be seen depicted in Florentine paintings of the period, worn by the very wealthy or the very holy.Mounted. Price: $5,500.00 |

I04-3205 Circa 1400-1500 Italian chasuble back with a central panel and top made of a rare design of Ottoman velvet, c. 1500. All the velvet is cut red silk with metal thread, pieced together in the 19th century because they were so highly valued. Provenance: Bacri Freres, Paris.
